Rite of Election

The Archdiocese of Brisbane celebrated the Rite of Election or Enrolment of Names at Saint Stephen's Cathedral on February 22, 2026. This Liturgy is a statement of the catechumen's readiness for the Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Faith and their intention to follow Christ as well as the church's acceptance of their intentions. The service was presided by Archbishop Shane Mackinlay.

Our Lady of Fatima parish presented 5 Catechumens, Frances, April, Fiona, Thanh and Tu. They will be receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist at Easter. With them are 8 candidates preparing for full communion with the Catholic Church. Let's all pray together as they take this journey. Our Lady of Fatima, Rite of Christian Initiation in Adult Formation is headed by Deacon Hugo Silva, Margarita Silva, supported by Mahealani Huber, Ritchie Huber and Virginia Sharpe and Father Dang, Adviser.

THANK YOU!  Numerous parishioners do an incredible amount of voluntary work that keeps the parish thriving. Ministers of the Word proclaim the Scriptures that bring it alive within our celebrations. Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, sacristans, altar servers serve the community at mass and take communion to the house bound. Musicians and singers lift our spirits and voices as we join in song to praise our God. Also, to those who clean up and keep tidy inside and outside of our church. To those who do many unseen and unheralded jobs; You make a difference and the parish is grateful. To these parishioners we are very appreciative of your ministry and pray that you know that God will continue to be with you in all that you do.

Multicultural Mass Celebration, 6 October 2024

On Sunday 12th of October 2024, we gathered to celebrate a special moment in the life of our Parish community. The Multicultural Mass was truly a wonderful liturgical celebration and lived up to its colour, music, worship and fellowships. “At Our Lady of Fatima Parish, we are more than just a congregation; we are a living, breathing example of unity and harmony among diverse backgrounds” as Mr Hugo Silva had addressed at the acknowledgement.  Some 500 people from many cultural backgrounds across the parish attended in their traditional costumes reflected the reality of our culturally diverse parish. From experience, the scale of this Mass cannot happen unless there are scores of volunteers from various cultural communities working together to bring about this beautiful celebration.

On behalf of the parish, I would like to extend a massive thank you to all parish volunteers from various cultural communities. You have done incredible jobs from assisting in managing traffic, decorations, liturgical ministers, donating and serving food from various cultural communities and particularly, those who assisted in setting and tidying up the parish ground after all the celebrations have finished.

A big thank you to the choirs who prepared and practiced in the weeks leading up to Multicultural Mass.  The different worship music is something to behold. Flags and Gospel procession add such unique beauty to the celebration. I would like to thank Efren and parish liturgy team for the many weeks of organising the many, many parts that are needed to bring together this massive liturgical gathering. It was another day to remember.

To all parishioners, thank you for the richness and diversity you bring to our Church. Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm for the faith which energises the parish.  We very much need you and all you bring.” Thank you. Fr Dang

Marian Valley Retreat

What an incredibly beautiful day we had at Marian Valley for our Retreat “Power of Prayer’ on Monday! 🌸 We boarded the bus in the chilly morning and arrived in time to celebrate mass with Fr Luan. A day filled with good food, amazing company, time to journey with the Lord and His Mother in the gorgeous surrounds of the valley and a powerful rosary to finish the day. It was a day of fellowship, discovery and the presence and love of our God and Blessed Mother Mary. What a great intercultural community we have with 10 countries of heritage within our group that day! The countries of: Republic of Philippines, El Salvador, Columbia, Mexico, Vietnam, Korea, Australia, Italy, India and Togo/ Ghana were all represented. What a blessing! Thank you to all the Parishioners that made the day so memorable.

Pre-Loved Markets

What an amazing day at the Awaken Pre-Loved Markets on the 30th April. It was an overwhelming success with incredible support from the local community. Our fundraising expectations were generously superseded thanks to the generosity of the community and the closing time had to be extended due to the amount of people still coming in at the end of the day.
The efforts of the volunteers from the Parish community was outstanding. The love friendship generosity and joy they radiated was a true reflection of a life filled with the hope of our Lord Jesus - what a witness! Please share in some photos from the day below.
Thank you to our sponsors for the raffle:

We Walk in Love & Unity

The Breastplate of St Patrick
I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth with His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom.
I arise today
Through the strength of the love of cherubim,
In the obedience of angels,
In the service of archangels,
In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In the prayers of patriarchs,
In the predictions of prophets,
In the preaching of apostles,
In the faith of confessors,
In the innocence of holy virgins,
In the deeds of righteous men.
I arise today, through
The strength of heaven,
The light of the sun,
The radiance of the moon,
The splendor of fire,
The speed of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of the sea,
The stability of the earth,
The firmness of rock.
I arise today, through
God's strength to pilot me,
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's host to save me
From snares of devils,
From temptation of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
afar and near.
I summon today
All these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel and merciless power
that may oppose my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul;
Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me an abundance of reward.
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
of the Creator of creation.
